How I Work
“From the very beginning, all beings are by nature Buddha.”

—Rinzai Zen Master Hakuin

I believe the approach and perspective of the practitioner is exceedingly important to the success of the work. Whether you choose to work with me or another animal communicator, it should be equally as important to you. More important, is your commitment to honor what your companions share, to consider what they need and to listen with an open, honest and loving heart.

Once you embark upon this path, your companion animals will truly require that you hold to this new found way of being with them and that can, occasionally, be tough. Part of my job as practitioner is to help you do this by finding ways to make it easier, more joyful, to give assurance and, every now and then, to just have a really good laugh.

As a practitioner, there are things I believe to be fundamental that I adhere to. I always work to know that miracles are part of our experience and that they happen with ease and grace being the right of each of us. Open and honest dialog is a must for this kind of work to succeed. Your input during a session is not only welcome, it is actually essential. I expect you to tell me when something does not speak to your truth, so, that together we can discover what is true. I will also hold the space for your animal companion’s boundaries to be respected and for their truth to be told. Please know that I am here to do this work for them, to honor them and their journey. Trust that I am also here to assist you in discovering the gifts that are yours as well.

To that end, my attention is always focused in such a manner as to insure the work we do is guided by Spirit, with all agendas, including my own (well, most of the time) out of the way.  It’s why I require such an in depth questionnaire which I study and meditate on to prepare for scheduling and conducting your appointment. It’s also why included in each and every session there is a preparatory period of meditation and shamanic work in the 15 to 30 minutes prior to your scheduled consult. During that time, I follow spiritual guidance specific to you and your animals. This can include, meditation of various kinds, journeying, choosing tools such as crystals, drums, rattles, incense, etc. and anything else Spirit guides me to do on behalf of you and your animals to create sacred space.

The work I do is about delving deeper and finding meaning behind the commonplace in our experience and that of our animal companions. So, although it can be fun to find out which is Fido’s favorite toy or the color of his water bowl or which park he likes to pee in most often, this is not the kind of work I do. Neither is predicting future outcomes. I will not command your animals to do what you want them to do because they have free will, too.

I am not a medical intuitive nor do I have any medical training, so I never diagnose or prescribe in any manner.  I always want to know that correct medical diagnosis has been attempted before we embark on the metaphysical levels. I would never wish to miss something physical because we were only concerned with the metaphysical.  I can recommend holistic practitioners (whose approach is often more supportive of this paradigm of understanding), if you wish to move beyond allopathic methods.

Locating lost animals does not fall into my area of expertise, but if this is the assistance you seek, I can offer some help in terms of energetic things you can do that might help in your search. I do not charge for this particular service and it usually can be handled in a brief e-mail.

As an animal communicator, I am here to act as your translator.  I am also able to see things your animals may show me visually and may empathically feel things they are experiencing. As an intuitive, I may also tune into things that are going on with them or you. As a shaman, I have at my disposal a myriad of tools to help. Through shamanic journeying I can access information, find new ways of healing, explore one’s path, retrieve lost aspects of the soul and remove energetics from the path that can block forward movement on multiple of levels. Through energy work we can heal trauma brought on by abandonment, abuse, injury, illness, etc. With muscle and pendulum testing we can discern the foods, supplements, modalities, etc. that would be of most benefit to your animal companion in that space and time.

My experience in the arena of end of life, death and afterlife has become very focused.  I have come to understand that many animal companions, when given the choice, choose a natural death without euthanasia.  I am a firm believer in the natural death process. I have seen such miracles come out of that part of the journey.  Having walked this path with numerous clients and several of my own beloved animals, I know that in many instances this can be done, with proper assistance, in a manner that maintains quality of life and avoids serious pain and discomfort. Should this be the appropriate path for all concerned, I can assist on a number of levels with telepathic communication, energy work and shamanism, resources, flower essences, etc. I also acknowledge and honor that this is not everyone’s choice, nor is it always the chosen path of our companion animals and there are instances where the pain, etc. cannot be managed to support quality of any kind, so, above all else, my wish is to support all in making informed choices that support everyone’s highest good. I also make a point to offer general support and a hand to hold when needed throughout this process. I frequently offer assistance through shamanism at the actual time of transition.  When euthanizing, this can be most beneficial in eliminating any confusion that your animal companion can experience at the moment of transition due to the impact of the drugs necessary for proper procedure. And last, but certainly not least, I can assist you in communicating with your companion animals once they have transitioned to the other side or assist an animal whose human has transitioned as well.

Also, as everything is connected, sometimes this work can move beyond specifically addressing your companion animals and can also include working with you, or with others in your family. It can even include (more often than you might think) working with your environmental spaces using shamanism, energy work modalities or both.

A firm believer in holistic care as the preferred choice for our companion animals (yeah, I have agendas, too), I offer assistance by researching and providing resources for holistic practitioners, nutrition, natural care products, and options to providing a more natural and holistic approach to their lives in general. I have a great deal of information and knowledge at my disposal having been dedicated to this path for more than 25 years. I offer this kind of research, guidance and information to anyone seeking assistance through Holistic Care Consultations.

I honor your interest; and, if you have made it this far, know that I honor your journey. I am here, most of all, to be of service to you all. I am grateful each day for what the gift of communication with the animals (and the trees and clouds and rocks and…) has brought to my life for more than 50 years; and, if I can share just some of that with you all, I am blessed.

“I’m sometimes asked, ‘Why do you spend so much of your time and money talking about kindness to animals when there is so much cruelty to men?’ I answer: ‘I am working at the roots.’”
